This is a devlog I uploaded after the creation of the finished state of my prototype for the level. It involves my thought process throughout the development and my motivations behind my design. This video is sadly in swedish only but still show the level in a playthrough with all mechanics, puzzles, enemies and secrets that have been designed for the level.

THE MONUMENT

This is the center of the level that focuses on giving the player hints of where to go next as well as serving as a clear landmark for familiarity to the player. It started off really basic, but with more tests and adjustments, the area has multiple enemies that make the space feel dangerous but still open. It also uses cover and more openness to let the player take advantage of the 3rd person view that they are given to personally validate the danger ahead of them and what they will see further in. 

THE DUNGEON

This is one of the three puzzles of the level. This area focuses on environmental puzzles and let the player take in their surroundings to observer what the solution is. It started off as a more complex puzzle but with testing I learned that simplicity and time it takes to solve the puzzle contributes to the players personal feelings towards the puzzle. I also played with angles for this one. The solution of the puzzle is not visible from the top area even tho you see a lot of the puzzle from the Monument already, requiring the player to actually do the parkour part to really solve it.

THE PUZZLE
